Ancient village in Shanxi

www.chinanews.cn 2005-09-12 16:17:08

Unique courtyards of farmers, exquisitely built ancient temple and stage,
mottled stone tablet paths eroded by wind, ancient trees that have
witnessed centuries of changes, simple and warm-hearted villages and
touching stories and legends abound in the ancient Hougou Village in
Shanxi Province. Visitors can feel the atmosphere of ancient and
unsophisticated agricultural culture and the mysterious scenery and folk
customs with every breath they take. Hougou Village, with less than 80
households, was confirmed on the 10th to become a model base of ancient
village protection in the rescue program of Chinese folk cultural
heritages. A villager led his horse for visitors to ride on and shoot
photos.
