85% stock investors suffer losses

Chinanews, July 5 - China Securities Journal and Shenzhen Huading Market
Investigation Company jointly carried out a survey with 2,792 investors
from 20 major cities in the country on the rate of return in the stock
market in the first half of 2005. The result shows that more than 80% of
small and medium investors suffered losses in the first six months, and
most of them were 30% to 50% in the red.
The survey also indicates that over 80% of investors lost money, and the
number of loss-making investors will continue to increase. Ratio of
profit-making investors has dropped from 5% at the end of 2004 to 4% at
present; ratio of loss-making investors rose from 80% to 85%; and ratio
of those who manage to break even fell from 15% to 11%.
